Let this be the final word (please!) on “unintended acceleration:”
I had written last month that Toyota’s acceleration problems may be symptomatic of a runaway microcontroller… I had written earlier about electronically-controlled exercise equipment, also big consumers of microcontrollers. This morning, when I showed up that gym, a good number of the Star Trac running machines were down. A sign by the injured machines read: “The treadmill speedup is due to a software problem. We apologize for the
inconvenience.”q
I would like to know the name of the manufacture and any model numbers . I want to understand the defect a little more re the treadmills Thank You Donald Jones

It was a Star track machine, David, but I don't know the model number (or the exact nature of the acceleration problem). I'll look it up next time I get to the gym and get back to you.
